Canoe the Zambezi River viewing abundant Zambian wildlife and birdlife as you drift past the Zambezi Game Park and Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park in Livingstone. These privately guided canoe safaris take you through narrow channels, experiencing breathtaking scenery. There are many islands of varying sizes in this part of the river. Probably the best way to appreciate the beauty, peace and wildlife of the Zambezi River above the Falls is to canoe on the mighty Zambezi through narrow channels and drift down past stretches of one of Africa’s most enchanted rivers. Paddle past crossing elephants and hippo pools and spot abundant birdlife and game as you drift past The Zambezi Game Park and Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. There is time to stop for something to eat and drink and listen to tales of Livingstone’s journey to the Falls.

What you will be doing

You will be collected and transferred tour departure point (between 15 and 35 minutes.Saftey briefing will be done on the bank of the Zambezi river then your trip commences. As you go, you will stop for drinks and biscuits on the island. Lunch will either be on the island or the shores off the Zambezi.

At the end of your trip, more refreshments then you will be transferred back to your accommodation.

What you need to bring

  • Camera
  • Hat/Cap, sunglasses
  • Sunscreen and mosquito repellent
  • Wear comfortable clothes that can get wet, such as shorts and a T-shirt
  • A warm jacket during winter

Additional Information

  • Children will be carried in a raft and not canoes, but will not be separate from the canoes during the trip. In this way, the trips can be suitable for young families.
  • Minimum 2 pax – maximum 20 pax
  • Large groups can be accommodated on request
  • Minimum age is 7, Subject to life jacket fitting.
  • As it is a very leisurely activity no previous experience is necessary and a basic level       of fitness is required.
  • Canoeing trips are available all year. However, during the rainy season        (December to March) some trips may not run depending on the level of rain
  • Clients paddle themselves, following their guide
  • Special dietary requirements need to be communicated in advance
  • Guides are licensed, fully trained and all hold valid first aid certificates.
  • Price excludes park fees payable direct
