Visitors can experience the beauty of the Okavango Delta on a guided safari, with the chance to spot some of the region’s iconic animals. From game drives and bush walks to canoe trips and bird watching, the Okavango Delta offers something for everyone. At the same time, rich wildlife can be found in Chobe and Moremi national parks.

Botswana is the perfect place to visit if you want to see the beautiful wildlife parks in the southern part of Africa. Botswana boasts a diverse diversity of wildlife in its parks and reserves, thanks to effective conservation measures that have resulted in the conservation of the country’s wildlife. Botswana’s several wildlife parks and reserves are well-maintained and managed.

17% of the country’s territory has been set aside for National Parks and Game Reserves, while 22% has been set aside for Wild Life National Parks. Botswana has four large national parks; the rest are game reserves, which are all overseen by the Botswana government’s Department of Wildlife and National Parks. Visitors are safe in these parks since they are adequately secured. Visitors must also adhere to the many regulations imposed by the various parks’ administrations to enjoy their tour in Botswana.

MOREMI NATIONAL PARK

Moremi National Park, renowned as Africa’s greatest wildlife reserve, is located in the country’s east and contains one of the best ecosystems in southern Africa.

Moremi Wildlife Reserve is located in the Okavango Delta in northern Botswana, and it is the first game reserve built by natives in the whole African continent. It was called for the local king, Moremi III, and his family leader.

The Moremi reserve is packed with lagoons, savanna vegetation, woods, and acacia forests, all of which serve as homes for the park’s many bird and animal species. There are also several lodges where you may spend the night, and you can see elephants, hyenas, cheetahs, leopards, the African Jackal, Impala, and many other animals.

CHOBE NATIONAL PARK

Chobe National Park is located near Botswana’s borders with Zimbabwe, Namibia, and Zambia in the north of the country and may thus be readily visited through the other three countries. Chobe is a huge park loaded with wildlife ranging from predators to the many bird species in the area.

Chobe National Park was founded in 1968 and is well-known for its large population of buffalos and elephants. Chobe National Park is known to feature four ecosystems:

  • The Savuti Marsh in the west
  • The dry Nogatsaa between the northwest and west
  • The Chobe flood plains in the north
  • The Linyanti wetlands in the Park’s northwestern corner

Elephants, hippos, wild dogs, giraffes, lions, buffalos, Zebras, red lechwe, cheetahs, hyenas, and a variety of other species may all be found in Chobe. You will also witness some of the area’s 450 bird species, such as the saddle-billed stork, African fish eagles, and African skimmer.

You may also take a boat trip to witness different reptiles and aquatic species, such as fish and African crocodiles. The best time to visit Chobe is between May and September during the dry season since animals will be migrating about the Park in search of water.

KHUSTE GAME RESERVE

The game reserve is adjacent to the Central Kalahari game reserve; it is an excellent getaway location, particularly for visitors looking to unwind and explore Gaborone. Khuste means “where one kneels to drink.”
